Located in the heart of the Permian Basin area of West Texas, the Purple Sage Chapter of the Ninety-Nines was chartered in November, 1984. The members of our chapter are from all over a large portion of the State of Texas, with the majority living in the Midland-Odessa area. The chapter has been very active in the aviation community since their beginnings, and can be seen at almost every aviation event in the area. For the past several years, members from our chapter have been involved in the annual Air Race Classic, and have travelled to San Angelo, TX, Moriarity, NM and Ft. Sumner, NM to assist in the designated stops for this race. The chapter has also conducted numerous Flying Companion Seminars and sponsored flying poker rallies over the years. Since Midland International Airport is home to the CAF Museum, several of our members are also active in that organization, as well as the EAA. We have members who are Flight Instructors, Aircraft Mechanics, Commercial Pilots and Airline Transport Pilots. We have one member who is a retired Air Traffic Controller and another who is a published author. We look forward to many more years of involvement in the aviation community in West Texas. |
