REDDING DROP-IN CENTER SELF-HELP GROUP
          BACKGROWND
The Consumers/Self-help Group of Redding, formally the Shasta m.h. Consumers Association. Started in April of 2000 by the then Stillwaters consumers. Meeting during their lunch hours daily thru that month. And continued to meet in members residences thru the month of November 2000 and agene in the spring of 2001. Currently located in the  Peer-Counseling Consumers Drop in Center  in Redding CA. Began to create, support and promote various Consumer, Survivor and X-patient. Self-help, peer-support and consumer/user-directed programs/activities, functions and events. This is also consistent with the cutting edge trend of community support and rehabilitation. Towards equalizing power altering attitudes and promoting respectful values. Finally, people who use services NO longer want to be passive recipients But rather ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS at all levels in planning and providing services. To inform and empower Consumers/Self-help Survivors and X-patents every ware.

     MISSHON STATEMENT
Dedicated To: ENABLING AND EMPOWERING CONSUMERS OF M.H. SERVICES/SURVIVERS OF M.H. ISSUES AND X-PATIENTS.

        PHILOSOPHIES
Of the Consumers Self-help Group of Redding.
1.That Consumers Survivors and X-patents can and should take an active role in their recovery/stability and well being,
2.That Consumers Survivors and X-patents have a unique ability to provide the friendship, acceptance and feelings of self-worth that a person needs in order to recover and live a productive and satisfying life. That others including professionally trained people just cannot provide.
3.Consumers/Survivors-operated organizations, activities, services are able to reach those who decline traditional services.
The Consumers/Self-help Group also believes that consumer/survivors involvement and self-help represents one of the most significant presents in the M. H. fields and one that has a profound impact on all aspects of the field, including helping many individuals recovering, maximizing the efficient use of limited resources and undoing the stigmatizing attitudes towards people with mental disorders.

The Consumers/self-help Group of Redding

      GOALS AND ABJECTIVES
(1)Identify research, document and publish finding for Consumers Survivors and
X-patents support needs      (2) To develop launch, implement, maintain and sustain a variety of feasible, affective consumer-operated activities and programs.
(3)Reviewing and analyzing The Consumers/Self-help
Group's projects. From there original proposals, progress reports, evaluate, study and finally reports to the Consumers/Self-help Group of Redding administration and directly to the Consumers at large.

           OUTLINE
In accomplishing and in accordance to, its GOALS detailed: qualitve and quantitive descriptions should be conducted for each project, activity which examines the following domains.

f. Successes & evaluation findings:
g. And recommendations.
The final analyses is across the projects to determine similarities differences, generalize able knowledge gains and recommendations for implementing, operating and evaluating the Consumers/Self-help Group its self.

First priority of the C.S.G. (Consumers/Self-help Group) is to demonstrate and evaluate its own services.

A.1. By recording how the varies C.S.G.'s projects were started,.
A.2. whom they helped, how they helped and  how other groups could start, implement and duplicate similar services elsewhere.
B.1. What impact was made on the individuals and organization that had contact with the C.S.G. of Redding,  ultimately the community at large would continue funding the C.S.G. projects that proved successful, as well as fund similar self-help projects in other localities.
B.2. Analyze, synthesize and package,
B.3. To foster m.h. Consumer empowerment and self-help.
B.4. Makes recommendations useful to others.

          OUTLINE
          FOURMAT
The Consumers/Self-help Group is headed by the C/S/G Coordinator.

          COORDINATOR
1.In keeping with the spirit of self-help must be a current or resent consumer of mental health services.
2.Responsibilities of the C/S/G Coordinator.
a.Heads the weekly C/S/G meeting.
b.Chairs weekly meeting/or select a chairperson.
c.Wrights a monthly report including,
(1)How any new projects weir started,
(2)Who they well help.
(3)What impact was made on individuals and organizations that have contact with the C/S/G.
(4)How the C/S/G/ has empowered consumers and witch consumers,
(5)Analyses the effectiveness of the C/S/G Project leaders,
d.Report directly to the administrator of funding,
e.Publish monthly report findings.
f.Select and train an official Consumers/Self-help Group Secretary.

          SECRETARY
3.Should be a consumer or resent consumer.
4.Responsibilities of C/S/G Secretary,
a.Responsible for recording and keeping the C/S/G.'s  meeting minutes.
b.Keeping on file all and every report of each project.

     GENRAL C/S/G MEMBER
5.Must be a consumer, a survivor or an x-mental patent.
6.Membership is open to all Consumer, Survivor and
X-mental patent.
7.Responsibilities of C/S/G Members
a.Attends C/S/G, meeting,
b.Brings ideas to the C/S/G meeting,
c.Gives opinions useful the C/S/G meeting,
d.Works on C/S/G projects,
e.At least one of the C/S/G members must attend the   administering agency's board of directors meetings.
For the purpose of reporting developments of the C/S/G when requested and to keep the C/S/G up to date with the mainstream of thought at the agency level.
f. At least one C/S/G member must attend the Shasta County Commission on H.H.     (Shasta Center Board) monthly Meetings for the purpose of keeping the County keeping the Commissioners on up to date on the activities of the C/S/G and reporting back to the C/S/G keeping the C/S/G up to date on the mainstream of the Commissioners thoughts.

        PROJECT LEADRS
8.Must be a consumer or a resent consumer.
9.Must be one who has time to devote to, and willing to work to accomplish the individual project goals.
10. Responsibilities
a.Heads their individual projects of the C/S/G,
b.Heads weekly meeting of their individual project,
c.Wright a monthly report on their individual projects
including,
(1).Project goals and objectives.
(2). Deception of services provided,
(3). Individuals served.
(4). How project is organized and administered,
(5). Implementation issues and barriers,
(6). How successful,
(7). Evaluate findings,
(8). Project recommendations.
d.Deliver report to the C/S/G Coordinator, the C/S/G secretary and to them C/S/G meeting for review.
