BETWEEN FIRE AND RAIN

Sylvia Siddell’s depiction of familiar objects, while surging with energy, refers to the 17th century tradition of Still Life painting with hints of the transitory nature of material goods and the frailty of human existence. Issues of fertility, fecundity , danger and decay are raised in her work as the fire and passion of youth become the drizzle and dilapidation of old age.
