You know.. science and meteorology has come along way.. with all the sophisticated equipment, doppler and nexrad radar and stuff. But..still even those high tech electronic gadgets have its' limitations. The weathermen still need YOU! There are times when a storm is developing a potentially dangerous situation that simply cannot be "picked up" in time. Our eyes in the skies are their only hope, to catch it when it happens! And severe situations can brew at so quickly, and during the time of year especially Spring, when Nature is at its' worst.. well the weather department just can't keep an eye on everything! You can Help! Call your Local National Weather Service Center.. and ask to be apart of SKYWARN...which is composed of volunteer storm watchers.. that will report activity and even call in measurements, if you have the proper equipment which doesn't have to be that expensive. You'll get to be apart of some really intense training.. from meteorologists and storm chasers, they don't want you to get hurt.. and so you'll be accurate in reporting.
Of course Storm Chasing.. is another story.. except for those professionals gathering important information and conducting tests, Storm Chasing is for your own personal excitement. Storm Chasers travel the country and often hold wonderful conferences for any weather enthusiasts ..and show exciting films and photos and safety tips.. as well as offer a vacation of a lifetime. They also take Incredible Photos! Think of it..when lightning flashes..you only see a second.. and are temporally blinded from anything else around you..when in a photo..the details are captured..the many electrifying branches of energy, the beautiful patterns.. and reveal.. what other magnificent activity was going on as well, that your eyes missed!
