ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND Name and address of the organization. Sankalp Saksharta Samiti Sector-37, House No. 1697 NOIDA  201303 Mission:To spread literacy amongst the underprivileged children (with particular emphasis on the girl child) for the benefit of society and the nation by provididng free education . 1. Background: a)How the organization came into being A Group of Army officers saw these underprivileged children roaming aimlessly on the streets having all bad habits like smoking, gambling etc and picking up scraps (from the dirty waste lying on the roadside) thus wasting their childhood. To educate them Sankalp Saksharta Samiti was formed. Its onward March began in Dec 1997. b)Started with just 4 children in the Garage of  a house and increased to 40 children in the same year end. c)Real good response the number rose to 93 children within 2 years.           d)A shed was constructed along the Garage and children were accommodated. e)Because of lack of space, the School moved out to a rented house (having 3 rooms). Till date it has 116 children (Feb 2005)
