| the co-operartion AthensPride 2005 will call for a new group formation to organize next Athens pride, within fall 2005, and will donate the new group with the knowledge of the previous work. Please keep the new commite as grassrots related as possible, it's proven it does help! We should be able to announce dates and details in early spring 2006. |

for the records..
a few women were wondering about the possibility of actually organising a Pride.. arranged to meet and talk about it.. the meeting was scheduled for Friday, April 8th 2005. Then at the Rainbow Forum of April (4th), another woman presented a similar request, resulting to a public invitation for the Friday meeting. On this first meeting there were members and friends of the Lesbian Group of Athens, the Sapphites group, World without war and violence organisation, POEK.. and some individuals - including men and women. We argued about feasibility and implementation, ans we saw there were ways ... Then we started talking about it with more people.. and we found people were expecting this Pride.. mostly they said "at last!" .. and very positive things. And we moved on.. We kept meeting weekly and sometimes more..
More people came in and keep coming .. This is local history..
