Parallel port Lights

Introduction:

Parallel port programming is really simple, all you need is I little time and some Visual Basic knowledge. The parallel port can be programmed to interface with custom design electronic device. The hardware of this port consists of 8 output data bits, 5 input control bits and 5 output control bits.

Software:

If you want to program the parallel port in Visual Basic you are going to need some dll files thats because Visual Basic does not have direct connection to the parallel port only to the serial port, here is a website where you can find some dll files for you next parallel port programming.http://www.windrivers.com/dll For now you can use this program vbc.zip. The program only runs on windows 95/98/me, it sucks, I know but that the problem with the dll file, not the program.

Hardware:

The hardware is kind of hard for some people, because you are going to need more tools than just you computer to builded, but you can get some of your parts from you local radio shack or from http://www.jameco.com this place is kind of expensive but it has what you need, and remember on the led the long leg goes to the parallel port and the short one to grown. You can also ad some 470 ohms resistors depend on the led you get some resistor can handle that power others not.
