SIU LIN TAU
"THE LITTLE TRANSMUTATION"
As the fundamental stage of training in the Buddha Hand Tradition, students dedicate at least 4 months of training in the practice of the form.
This form is the introduction into the system and beginning stages of chi kung are taught as are the
fundemental movements of wing chun such as tan sau, bong sau, and straight punching. Emphasis is also given
to developing a strong base (horse stance).
The entire set is generally broken down into 3 forms to ease the student into remembering the entire set. Contained in the form are key elements of the Wing Chun system, (eg tan sao, fook sao, bong sao) but unique to Fut Sao WC are the movements which combine explosive and soft energies, similar to the yin/yang theory of hard and soft power. The set is performed in the Yee Gim Kim Yaung Ma found in Wing Chun kung fu.
The raw movements are taught to beginner students and then these movements are refined for speed and adaptability to each individual. No two people or physiques are the same and while it is important to maintain the fundementals of a system, an individual fighter should also be able to exploit strengths and improve weaknesses.
A test must be passed before one can advance to the next higher mode of training otherwise
the student will have to remain in the form until she/he is able to pass.
