Doom Weapons

1) Fist - Absolute worst weapon to use.  Short range, weak damage.  Only worth using if you use a Berserk pack.

1A) Chainsaw - Great weapon against Demons, Specters, Imps, and Cacodemons.  The chainsaw teeth rip away at their flesh so fast that they cannot attack.  Very specialized weapon, its only downside is that it can only be used at close range.

2) Pistol - Basic firearm weapon.  Decent firing rate, mediocre damage.  All Marines start out with a pistol and fifty bullets.  It'll do in a pinch, but you'd better find a better weapon pretty damn quick.

3) Shotgun - Probably the most useful weapon in the game.  Its power outweighs its below average firing rate, and is best used within a few yards of your targets for maximum pellet concentration.

3A) Super Shotgun - The most popular of all Doom ][ weapons, it deals massive damage but has the slowest firing rate of all weapons.  Which really isn't so bad, it takes down most enemies in a 2 or 3 well-aimed shots.  Great for those sneaky "one shot kills" in multiplayer.

4) Chaingun - Its firing rate is second only to the Plasma Gun, it is best used against Cacodemons and Pain Elementals from keeping them from firing.  It takes a lot of bullets to kill most enemies, but if you fire this bad boy in short bursts, it can be extremely accurate and deadly.

5) Rocket Launcher - Most Deathmatchers' weapon of choice, it fires a slow-moving projectile that deals unbelievable damage - it can even turn some of your enemies into gooey puddles.  Its drawbacks are its average rate-of-fire and the fact that you can take damage if you fire this at close range.

6) Plasma Gun - Perhaps the best all-around weapon in the game, it fires off small bolts of energy at an incredible rate.  It's powerful enough to distract even the most powerful monsters from firing, but you may soon find yourself running out of plasma if you don't keep an eye on your ammunition.

7) BFG-9000 - Supposedly the best gun in the land.  I think it's overrated, myself, but dealing mind-boggling damage, one well-aimed shot at point blank could take down even the biggest and baddest of bosses.  The projectiles and firing rate are slower than turtles on depressants, though.

Doom Monsters

Former Human - Weakest of the Doom ][ enemies, toting aa pistol and taking poorly-aimed shots at you.  Just about anything can kill these guys - even your brass knuckles.

Former Human Sergeant - A bit harder to kill than their subordinates, FHS's tote powerful shotguns that can deal considerable damage if you let them.  A couple of bullets should knock them back to Hell, and you get a nifty shotgun from each Sergeant you kill.

Former Human Commando - A 300 pound behemoth with a blood-red uniform, these guys mean business.  They're much, much harder than either of their human counterparts, and are far more accurate with their machine guns.  Thankfully, they can take on baddies much tougher than them (like Cacodemons) and save you some ammo.  And they drop chainguns when they die.  Sweet.

Imp - A brown spiked fiend with a huge appetite for destruction.  They toss nasty fireballs which are easy to avoid, but don't get caught in tight places with a bunch of these guys (they tend to stick together in packs) - they'll tear you to shreds with their razor-sharp teeth and claws.

Demon - A bulky, pink horned monster.  They make up for their lack of a ranged attack with a powerful bite.  This can easily be avoided, they're not the fastest enemies, they don't seem to use stairs very well, and they can be felled in a couple of well-aimed shotgun blasts, or cut apart with a chainsaw.

Specter - Just like the demon, only semi-invisible.  They can be annoying in dark rooms, making you wonder where you're taking damage from.

Lost Soul - An extremely annoying, fast monster.  They're flying, flaming skulls which can deal quite a bit of damage to you.  They don't take a lot to kill, but can swarm on you like angry bees if you don't take them out quickly.

Cacodemon - An ugly, orange-reddish one-eyed airbag.  They heave bolts of electricity which can kill you in just a couple of hits.  A couple of super shotgun blasts will take these guys down nicely, or if you're in dire straits, use the chainsaw .  They will not fire back as long as you keep chopping.

Pain Elemental - Possibly the most annoying enemy in the game.  They're harmless by themselves, but act as living teleports for Lost Souls.  Take these brown bags of crap out before the Souls fry you to a crisp.

Revenant - A nine-foot tall skeleton that fires heat-seeking rockets.  They're hard to kill - not only do they take several shotgun blasts, but since they're so skinny, they don't give you much of a target.  Try to get right in their faces when attacking - they won't fire their devastating rockets, but make sure to watch out for their even more powerful punch - a single punch can kill you.

Arachnotron - A miniature version of the Spider Mastermind, these semi-robotic aliens fire plasma at warp speed.  They take a lot of bullets to die, but the best trick is to give them a taste of their own medicine.  The barrage of plasma will keep them distracted and will not fire back.

Hell Knight - A seven-foot tall minotaur, this brown fellow boasts huge muscles and flings potent plasma at your face.  The chaingun won't work so well on him, he'll keep on attacking.  Your best bet is to fire 2 or 3 rockets or a couple of super shotgun blasts right at his torso.

Baron of Hell - A pink version of the Hell Knight, the Baron is even harder to kill.  At least these guys don't show up quite as often as their lesser cousins.

Mancubus - Don't let their almost comicaall appearance deceive you. They're wider than they are tall, walk slower than snails, but have two massive guns for arms.  They'll fire six rounds of fiery malice at you, and are very difficult to dodge.

Arch-Vile - Doom is aptly named for a reason - and the reason is this guy.  A pasty white beanpole of an alien, they summon the fire gods to burn you and lift you in the air - doing incredible damage.  On top of their awesome attack, they raise demons from the dead.  Uh-oh.  And they're just about impossible to kill, too

The Spider Mastermind - The original Doom boss, this villain is a real menace.  With a gun larger than anything you've ever seen, you'll be pumped full of lead in three seconds flat.  If you get right up next to them and fire your BFG, they may go down in one hit.

Cyberdemon - This is the biggest, baddest monster of them all.  Fifteen feet tall, with a rocket launcher for an arm and fitted with demonic armor rendering him virtually immune to all attacks, a battle with him is never to be taken for granted.  It takes a lot of hits to puncture him, but a couple of good BFG blasts will send him back to Hell.
