Just a little note to educators

The Slacker Central Guru answers all your FAQ's

So Tiffany, how did this website get started?

It started as a part of my grade 11 computer assignment: make a webpage about anything you want. I noticed that I was accumulating a list of homework help sites in the back of my homework diary, so I decided to put them up on the web for everyone to share. (It was a MUCH BETTER and more original idea than writing a page about yourself or the celeb you idolize, like everyone else was planning to do.) I noticed that there were tons of resources out here on the web that had experts answer your homework questions, but there wasn't a really great site that listed and provided descriptions of the best of them, in a easy to read, appealing format. I made it my goal to do just that- and here it is. In the process, I also added book summaries, reference, and science help links. It was uploaded onto the net on April 4th, 2000 and it hasn't stopped growing. Now, there are Math, English, Foreign Language, Social Science, and SAT prep pages, and I am still continuing to expand the others, as well as develop more pages. Send me your suggestions.

What's your favorite site to use?

DEFINITELY AllExperts! Teachers are always impressed that I find professionals to talk to concerning my projects! I talked to an Olympic medalist figure skater to complete my Kinesiology project, and also MANY PhD's.

What was your inspiration in making this page?

After complaining incessantly in the Turing unit ("Why do we learn this language that NO ONE USES ANYMORE??" C'mon, I was only being PRACTICAL!), I really wanted to impress the teacher in the HTML unit (she was probably on the verge of failing me because I insulted her favorite programming language), so I made something original... like this.

So, what subject are you a slacker in?

English, definitely! Well, it was French before, but now I'm finished it and don't have to take it anymore. I just don't understand how to analyse themes, etc.

This website is in no way a resource for slacking students to take advantage of (ie. read the book summaries, ask teachers for answers to their homework problems, etc.) Instead, this site is provides ways for students to enhance their projects, discussions, and make them better prepared for class and the real world by taking advantage of some of the more useful sites on the internet... yeah of course I know what I'm talking about... why wouldn't I??

And to all my teachers- just because I make a webpage full of links to subject sites (especially book summaries!) doesn't mean that I use them... I mean, of COURSE I don't use them... I've read all the books... especially Wuthering Heights and Great Expectations. I understood every single word and was reading for enrichment (*wink)!! What were you thinking?! I just decided to make a webpage on them for no reason!
