Santa Claus

Lives in Cozumel!

In the orphanage Casa Hogar para Niños, in Cuidad del Carmen on the Yucatan peninsula, 74 children await the month of December, and with it the Christmas presents that arrive from Cozumel. The younger ones are convinced that this is the Caribbean home of Santa Claus.

For the past eight years, each child has received a Christmas gift through the collection efforts of Lisa, Raul and Bianca at Rock 'n' Java Café in Cozumel. With the help of Scott at Cozumel Minigolf and Sally at Barefoot in Cozumel, last year the orphanage received presents for each child and staff member, many presents shared by all the chidlren and a large cash donation.

It's incredibly sad to see how little these children have. As we ponder all of life's choices before us, the staff at Casa Hogar struggle daily to keep these children fed, clothed and sheltered. Please give up just a little, so that they may struggle less.

This year we ask for your help once again. The children range in age from 3 to 18. The gifts from Cozumel will be all they get. Gifts and monetary donations may be dropped off at Rock 'n' Java, located just south of Punta Langosta, or at Cozumel Minigolf, located at the corner of Calle 1 and 15 Avenida. In order to be fair to each child, we ask that individual gifts be of $15 value. Checks of any amount from the U.S. should be made out to Lisa's father and mailed to:

Robert P. Ramirez
2169 Winding Creek
Grapevine, TX 76051

Please write "Casa Hogar" on the memo line of the check.
And a big THANK YOU to Bob!

To our donors, Irma, the director of the orphanage, writes:

For me it's very gratifying to know there exist people that, despite the distance between us, are so noble of heart. With all my heart, I appreciate the great interest and love that you have demonstrated to my children of Casa Hogar. At each year end they, as well as I, await this significant date with much emotion. Know that you are always in our prayers, as we ask that somehow the little ones that live here be happy.

Thank you, God, for our Cozumel friends. Thank you, friends of Cozumel, for your valiant help. May the Supreme Creator continue to bestow upon you the best of health, wealth and much love. Remember that here on the island [Isla del Carmen] you have brothers and sisters who wish you an accumulation of happiness.

Sincerely,
C. Irma Morales Márquez
Director
