Get Involved
What can I do to get involved?
If you are passionate about preserving
constitutional liberties, we encourage you to get involved. Here
are some ways you can help us in our efforts:
-
Be informed. Being informed about
the issues is your most important duty as a citizen. You can find
out a lot just by perusing our site; be sure to check our links
page, where you'll find a compendium of educational and informative links
about the Patriot Act and other issues. Start by reading our
FAQ and/or the AP's Overview
to Changes to Legal Rights. Then try the web sites of the ACLU
and the BORDC. Also, The Village
Voice has an excellent civil
liberties page. You can contact
us for more information.
-
Inform others. An informed public
is tyranny's worst nightmare. Share your knowledge with your family
members, friends, coworkers, and acquaintances. You'd be surprised
how many people haven't even heard of the Patriot Act!
-
Sign our petition. Your signature
means a lot. If you want to be heard on this issue, sign onto our
resolution campaign by filling out an endorsement
form.
-
Help gather signatures. Let
us know if you want to help gather signatures from people in your community.
We can always use extra help.
-
Attend an SMBORDC meeting. We
welcome visitors at our meetings, which are usually held every other Wednesday
in the Hemingway Lounge of the Unitarian Universalist Church of San Mateo,
300 East Santa Inez (corner of Ellsworth), San Mateo. Next meeting
date to be announced.
-
Join the committee. If you're
interested and you've got the time, join our committee.
