About my Forestry Career:
-I began my career as a research technician with the Applied Forestry Research Institute at SUNY ESF, my Alma Mater, working in Logging Research.
-I started a masters degree in soil physics, but abandoned that to pursue a broader approach to forestry. I would call myself a Forestry General Practitioner.
-I worked in Helicopter Logging for eight months, in the NY Adirondacks and Catskills.

-I worked for Six years with the US Forest Service on the Cherokee and Kisatchie National Forests in
Tennessee and Louisiana, respectively.
While there I was the assistant ranger for "other resources" and also worked in reforestation for a time. During my time with the USFS, I was a fire crew boss, fighting over 200 fires in Tenn. and and was a prescribed fire manager,in charge of 2000 acres of controlled burns in La. per year.
- I then worked for eleven years as lead forester for Pomeroy Lumber Company, of Nineveh,NY, in charge of Land and Timber Acquisition and management of Forests on private lands.
- In 1996, I started my own Forestry Consulting Firm, working mostly with private
landowners but occasionally with public ownerships also.
-I served as a volunteer
District Director for the NYS Chapter of the American Chestnut Foundation from 1993 to 2006 and continue my interest in restoring the Chestnut.
