| Teach Us to Pray for: Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden |
| Because we, as Christians, believe that: ~ we are given the gift and the calling of prayer; ~ prayer can succeed where political maneuvering, economic sanctions, and military strategy fall short; ~ we are commanded to pray for those who hate us, while recognizing that our battles are not with flesh and blood, but with powers and dominions; ~ we are all of us in need of God's grace, and should call no person unclean nor withhold from any person the love of God in Christ Jesus; We humbly ask God, our Father, Jesus Christ, our Savior, and the Holy Spirit, our Helper, to teach us how to pray for these men and for these situations, so that there might be a peaceful resolution to the present conflicts and that we as the church in the United States might be faithful to Jesus' commands to be peacemakers. You are invited to share your prayers, so that others of us might learn how to pray about these difficult situations. |
