3. Choice and Accountability
On every level of learning, we have the ability to choose.
Sometimes, we are unaware that we can choose or that we have alternatives available to us. Sometimes, we get so involved in the results of our choices (poverty) that we lose awareness of the power we have to choose again (put up a business) and provide a new result (our dreams, vision, goal).
Until we recognize our responsibility for our choices and the results they provide, we limit our power to change things in our lives that we desire to change.
In other words, we limit ourselves with our limiting choices and limited awareness.
Generally, poor people want to get rich quick through lotteries, cards, and numbers game. They win some, but in the long run, they lose. They failed to realize that there is another alternative- by working hard and smart.
What’s worst is that people don’t feel accountable for the decision they have made. They blame their parents (who are also gamblers), they blame the government who fosters gambling, or fate (malas lang!) and who else, except themselves.
What you are today is the result of your past decisions and actions. Therefore, what you will be in the future will be the result of your decisions and actions today. Be accountable!
