Jennifer Don

Jennifer Don began skating at age ten, when a rink opened near her home. Don, born October 6, 1984 in Houston, TX, says that she had always admired the combined beauty and athleticism of figure skating, and immediately fell in love with the sport. She now trains in South Dennis, MA and is coached by Evy and Mary Scotvold and skates for the Yarmouth Ice Club. Don lives surrounded by skating - she is from Sugar Land, TX, the home town of Olympic Champion Tara Lipinski, and lives with former Junior World Champion Jennifer Kirk.

The 5'1" Don, who likes to read, says that school is an important aspect of her life. After she finishes high school, she would like to attend collage and major in business. She also feels skating will always be part of her life, whether it "be skating, coaching or judging."

Don, who won Duke University's Grand Recognition Award, admires Michelle Kwan for her grace, both on and off the ice. She plans to move up to the junior level for the 2001-2002 season, and plans to add more triples to her repretorie and improve her speed on the ice.

Says Don: "There is some sort of magical quality about skating. It is an ethereal sport that meshes beautiful artistry and dynamic athleticism. I love to skate for people and it is a great feeling to know that others enjoy watching you skate."
