by Leah Agler for Unseen Skaters.

Leah AglerHi all! Well, Christmas vacation is over, and you know what that means? Well to me it means that I got to start working for the upcoming season. Before the holidays, I was invited to three shows where I performed my Ricky Martin program. I really had a blast doing it, and I also got a good workout out of it because it was also four minutes and 17 seconds long! In one of the shows my sister skated to a cute "Honey Bun" program, and my brother played "God Bless America" on the saxophone. After the show, my mom was also able to get a nice picture out of my brother, sister, and I.

After three shows and a nine day vacation for snowboarding, I have been back skating, and focusing on really improving my jumps and my programs. Latest news: I have a different long program. I know that I previously said that I would be keeping the same programs, but plans have changed so that I have returned to my short program from two years ago when I was a Novice.

If you may recall, it was the "Warsaw Concerto" and had a patriotic theme. This year I am definitely ready to do this program as a long program, and I am pretty sure that I have the strength to perform this program. It will not be easy because I don't really have any breaks in the program. This long program has the patriotic theme, as did the short program I did with this music I did two years ago. My dress is very special this year, my mother created the design and we chose the fabrics ourselves. With our friend, Susie Hung, of US Icewear, the dress has come to life.

I am really happy with how I am doing these days, other than the few times I have been getting sick. Right now, as I am writing this journal, I have been a victim of fluctuating body temperature, that, at times, gets too high to cause a fever, and then gets lower when makes my body chill. In a few minutes I will heading to the doctor to find out if I am very sick, meaning that I have some sort of contagious sickness.

Well, other than that I am well, school has been occupying my life more than ever with four Regents Exams [New York state tests] to take in June, and an AP exam to take in May. I also plan to compete a lot this season. I will be starting with the Empire State Games in about two weeks, so that I get my programs out early.

On March 5th, I will be turning sixteen! I am really happy about that also. I will be getting my driver's permit. You know what that means? That means that I can relieve my mother of the many hours of driving to and from competitions! I don't plan on having a "Sweet Sixteen," because I had a Bat-Mitzvah when I was thirteen. Ask anyone from my rink about that, they will tell you that I plan on having a House Party or Gathering for all my friends. Well got to head to the doctor now, hope to get back to you soon!
