Whoever may be interested, here are my thoughts about drug testing.

I believe all individuals should have the right to do with their free time whatever they feel like. Denying someone a job based on a positive drug test is the same as firing someone because they enjoy sailing on weekends. One thing has nothing to do with the other!

Weekends and evenings are the few hours a week we have for ourselves and no one should have anything to do with whatever way we choose to spend them. People should be judged by their performance, punctuality, and behavior at work. Responsible individuals should not lose their jobs, or opportunities to get better jobs, based on their personal lives.

Of course, no responsible person would go to work under the unfluence of drugs but, what you do when you are not at work shouldn't matter to your employer. If you are on heavy drugs that impair your work and it becomes noticeable, then I think a test is the correct procedure. But if what you do at home doesn't interfere with your job, it shouldn't be used against you.

Another unfair thing about drug testing is that someone on heavier drugs can be clean for a couple of days and pass a test. But for marijuana users, the story is different. Due to the fact that THC metabolites are stored in fat cells, it takes a lot longer for someone who smokes marijuana to be clean than it takes to people who do cocaine or heroin, for example.

Pot smokers are pretty harmless to society and anyone who says any different just doesn't know what they are talking about.

Marijuana is not addictive! I have known hundreds of pot smokers throughout my life, and I have known hundreds of cocaine users as well. I have seen cocaine destroy many people's lives around me, and felt sad seeing how unable they were to discontinue the use of the drug, no matter how hard they tried or wanted to. I've seen friends be sent to clinics for dexintoxication for months, only to come back and start all over. A very sad sight.

On the other hand, I have seen pot smokers stop whenever they wanted,or if they didn't have access to marijuana. I have never seen anyone rolling on the floor due to pot withdrawals.

People who get addicted to marijuana are people with compulsive behavior who will have a tendency to get addicted to anything. Like people who can't diet because they are addicted to sodas, or chocolate. I never heard of anyone talking about making chocolates against the law based on the fact that this country has so many people having health problems due to their weight.

Another worrying fact about drug testing is that inescrupulous people can use the urine samples given by prospective female employees to avoid hiring pregnant women.

Food for thought:
IF EVERYONE IN THE WORLD WHO DOES DRUGS USED ONLY POT, THE WORLD WOULD BE A BETTER PLACE!
