2008 BASA Wavecamp

After we cancelled last year's plans due to lack of interest, we are going to give it a shot again in 2008.
We will be trying to set up a wavecamp again mid May this year.
The wave camp will be held as always in Minden, MEV, Douglas County Airport or now Minden Tahoe Airport.
It is a 5.5 hour drive with a glider trailer from Hollister Airport.
The scenic route over highway 88 is incredible and quite easy, even with a trailer, if the road is clear.

New Schedule:
Fri          9 May     disassemble at Hollister, trailer to Minden.
Sat       10 May     assemble at Minden, start Wave Camp (maybe some remaining disassembly at Hollister and trailering to Minden)
Sun      11 May     Wave Camp
Mon    12 May     Wave Camp
Tue      13 May     Wave Camp
Wed    14 May     Wave Camp
Thu      15 May     Wave Camp
Fri        16 May     Wave Camp
Sat       17 May     end Wave Camp, disassemble gliders
Sun      18 May      transport gliders to Hollister

Please note that BASA flight rules specify that for flights above 17999 feet, BASA requires proof of a altitude chamber ride.
Club ship maximum altitude is 25000 feet.
Our DG1000 is a special case. To protect the gelcoat on this valuable club asset, the altitude limit is 17999 ft or a minimum temperature of -10 degrees Celcius ( 14 degrees Fahrenheit)). Note: the DG temperature sensor scale is in Celcius

Wavecamp is a great opportunity, also for novice pilots who want to get acquainted with mountain flying.
Mountain flying can be intimidating for flat-landers (I include Hollister pilots in the flat-lander category)
But Minden Airport and Carson Valley are very wide places, so it is easy to fly with very high margins.
We also have instructors and flight committee members available to guide you.
Even without a Chamber Ride, you can go up to 17999 ft.

If you would like to participate in the Wavecamp, please contact your Wavecamp Chairman

Please indicate your (tentative) plans as early as possible. Hans and Jeremy
We need your early input for fleet planning purpose, to make sure that we have sufficient capacity for both ground handling and flying.
