believed to be Lewis' parents, but not proven.2.i. Isaiah Jr. was b. circa 1802, N.C.and he married (for the 3rd time) on Oct. 16, 1866 to Nancy WALTERS, age 25 from Wayne Co., KY. He was around 64/65 yrs. old at the time. He was also marr. to Sarah DODSON, prior to 1828. His 2nd wife is unk.
2.ii John Calvin, b. 1812, N.C. (?), marr. Elizabeth WHITE, b. 1813, dau. of Richard WHITE, on May 8 1834, in Whitley Co., KY. This family went to Hardin Co., TN in the 1840's.

2. i. Lewis D. STEELY, b. circa 1785, N. C/S. C, d.bef. 10 Feb. 1835, Whitley Co., KY. Married circa 1810 to Delilah JONES, b. c. 1790/95, S.C.?(poss. of Wm. JONES, bro. of Simon P. JONES as her father. Not Proven.) Lewis settled on 100/150 acres on the Cumberland River, where he went into the coal hauling business, taking coal from the land, down the river on a barge to Nashville, Tn. He was in this business venture with his brothers. Legend has it that he died when they pulled the barge in for the night and he built a fire under a rock overhang for warmth. When the fire heated up the rock, it broke, crashing down on him and killing him.
Lewis came to Whitley Co. by Dec. 1823, from Chesterfield Co., S.C., with his wife Delilah, and his 3 sons and 3 daughters:

He married Priscilla BROUGHTON, b. 22 Apr 1822, KY., d. 24 Aug. 1904, Whitley Co., KY. They married on 18 Apr. 1840. Priscilla is believed to have been marr. to Osburn SUMNER, first. children were:

It has been said that the 2 daughters of Lewis, (Mary Ann and Nancy) died as a result of child-birth related causes or illness's. Mary Ann was supposed to have given birth to a daughter called Jane, and died shortly after or during the birth, and Nancy died because of childbirth related causes, also.
