Featured Storytellers:

Charlotte Blake Alston
Charlotte Blake Alston is a Philadelphia-based storyteller with a rich repertoire of stories, songs, poetry and rhythmic elements from the African and African-American oral tradition.  She is the host of Carnegie Hall’s Family Performance Series and the first and only storyteller to perform with The Philadelphia Orchestra. The New York Times describes her performances as “eloquent storytelling.”
Niall de Burca
Niall de Burca was raised in western Ireland, a region steeped in Celtic myth and legend.  An enormously versatile storyteller, he combines tremendous energy and humor with audience participation to tell historical stories of Irish Diaspora, and tales from other lands, as well as original materials
Bill Harley
Humorous and meaningful, serious and silly, Bill Harley’s songs and stories are guaranteed to tame even the wildest of kids and make the grumpiest grownup grin with his unique, slightly wacky view of people and the world around them.  He is the recipient of two Grammy nominations, and numerous other awards including Parent’s Choice and a five-star review from Nuvo
Beth Horner
Beth Horner is noted for her vivacious stage presence and a warm, energetic style punctuated with music and humor that critics have called “dynamite!”  Her repertoire ranges from raucous humor to tender courage, from childhood farmyard escapades to family Civil War stories, from traditional tales to heroic triumph over sewage.
Clara Yen
As a child, Clara Yen would sit enraptured at her parents’ sides, listening to them speak about their childhood in China. She re-creates those memories for herself, for her parents, and for her listeners by delicately weaving family lore with folk tales, and English with Mandarin. The resident storyteller for the public library in Dublin California, Yen is also the author of Why Rat Comes First.
